Howdy.  I'm in central Arizona.  My baby is a '77 W72 T/A that is currently undergoing an LS type (LQ9, actually) and 4L60E swap.  This one is my 3rd T/A.  My first was a 1980 Turbo T/A Pace Car that I bought brand new.  Sold it to generate funds to go to school.  My 2nd was a 1984 5.0/5 speed that I bought used.  Glad to once again own a T/A!

Just joined the forum a couple of days ago. Been lurking for a little while now. Have been an enthusiast of the 2nd generation Trans Am's, and Formula's for quite a few years and have owned many over that time period as well.

I will say that the movie Smokey and the Bandit were probably the inspiration behind my love for the Trans Am! The Rockford Files helping boost it!

I have been visiting Hitman's website for some years now gathering information, and never even realized that there was a forum associated with the website. Thought I'd join up and learn even more.

I have been working on a book for a couple of years now, gathering information and the main focus of the book is the 1st and 2nd generation Trans Am's and Formula's.

Looking forward to learning as much as possible and picking brains!

Jonas.

I live in what some call "Deep" East Texas. We live only about 35 miles from Interstate 45.

Hi Lowell and thanks for the welcome. I have tow Y88 Trans Am's in the past. One equipped with the Oldsmobile 403 and one with the Pontiac 400. Didn't know many years ago how little of the gold SE versions were made.

Well, you know about hindsight and 20/20!

i bought my 1st Y88 in 1979. Thought it was the greatest. Got married and sold it in 1986. Bad day. When I turned 40 the Kids told me I should have one again because I was getting old and feable and didn't have much to live for... Hmmm. So I found one that needed restored and that led into number 2. Then 3. Then 4 and so on. Now have five Gen 2's in various stages of repair. Very slow process but we are making progress. ::)

The first Y88 I bought in 1982 or 1983. The second one was bought in 1991 IIRC. I have to say I preferred the second Y88 much more since it had the velour cloth interior, and the Pontiac 400 engine. It was also in better condition as having been taken much better care of during the time before I bought it.
