Topic: Shaker hood scoop

Hello to all. Just grabbed a 78 y88 ws6 gold trans am.  Needs bunches of help. Car is in good shape but missing lots of interior parts.  Im wondering about the hood scoop.  I put on the air cleaner assembly, it was in the trunk with a ton of other parts, but it sits too low.  About 2 or 3 inches.  Is it the wrong one or wrong intake or wrong carb? I am super duper excited to even have this car. I have wanted one since high school but couldn't afford one.  Im 51 now and sooooooooo looking forward to restoring this car.  It is registered with PHS.  Thank you.

Hard to tell without pics. Is it stock? It should have a Rochester 4 barrel carb. The mounting gasket should also be about 1/2 thick. There were changes tot the scoops over the years. This article describes some to of the changes.  http://www.78ta.com/Pages/shaker.htm
