brake upgrade suggestions
« on: April 17, 2007, 08:21:26 PM »
Can anyone recommend a good set of upgraded front brakes for my TA?  I'm not stopping so well anymore, I think new rotors, calipers, pads, master cylinder, etc. might be in order.   I want to be able to keep my snowflakes and not spend a fortune.  thanks!

ssbc ( stainless steel brake company) sells an upgrade for the front....the calipers are much better but i believe they use the same size rotors...which you can order from them or get them from baer brakes....

Another key brake part you will want to change is the brake lines. I recommend going with stainless brake lines, you can order a front line kit for around $80. This will make a big difference on how the pedal feels. Usually the rubber line are very soft and expand which makes your pedal soft.  As far as what brand to go with I recommend going with an upgrade kit from SSBC. The kits start at $200 for sloted rotors, pads and hardware, then from there the prices just keep climbing depending on what you want to change.

There is also the option of converting your front spindles  to "b" body spindles and then the 1LE 12" rotors from the 1988-1992 Camaro/Firebird
here is a link to the process

Remind me to never go stainless, I like a soft brake pedal.
