3rd Brake Light
« on: December 05, 2018, 06:35:03 PM »
HI Guys, anyone put in a 3rd brake light?  I thought it would be easy finding a high quality super bright light but it has not been.

If you have done this, please share.

Thanks!

A long time ago I looked, nothing suitable that was correct angle for top or bottom or that looked inconspicuous or belonged there, most looked cheap and nasty that were universal. Generally speaking, if it has a rear spoiler already it would be annoying with a red glow out the window when you touch the brakes, same reason production cars lose them from the window if they have one in the spoiler, along with not being visible.

I was thinking high on the rear glass.  Trying to do anything to not get rear ended.  Already did plasma led tail lights....

the roofline is already low on these, many roof mounted lights would be in the field of view. Never heard of plasma led tail lights, if they are busy updating the status on their phone I don't think it matters what they are.

Are those nice and bright outside in the daytime? I’ve only seen a couple cars with aftermarket led bulbs that 1: are bright enough to be seen outside on a bright day which I attribute to proper light displacement inside the housing and 2: that have enough of a noticeable change between low power (tail lamp) and high ( brake or turn signal).

I have avoided putting normal LEDs because they are not much brighter than incandescent.  These plasma bulbs are brighter.

Nice. Thanks for the info. If you get a chance a video showing them in the daylight would be cool.
