Shifter cable Sluggish

New Cable kinds sluggish
is it possibly i have a cheap cable .
it came with the car? maybe if i buy a quality cable it will work smotther?
it goes in all the gears but kinda have to force it?

Could be a cheapie. Or perhaps the wrong length, too long with a kink somewhere or lube has gummed up and not run down the entire length of tube. Easy fix luckily to drop in another or remove to free up and see if any better.
