Title: Garage art
Post by: T/A Kid on October 16, 2011, 09:30:59 PM
Ok this is not really art but I've wanted somethings to hang up in my garage. We've had this 1962 International dump trunk in the family since I was a kid we decided to junk it out because it had just become too old to be usable, I decided to cut off the front end sheet metal hook up the lights and hang it in the garage.
It turned out to be a little bigger job than I thought but I sandblasted and repainted and and the lights are working, I have a 80 firebird nose piece that may be next.

Cool idea! I've been wanting to get a 77-78 nose and the lights and everything to hang on the wall too. Just haven't found one for cheap close to me yet and my 77 needs its nose a little more than my wall does lol.

That is pretty cool.  You otta get a picture of the motor to sit in behind that big ol grill.

That reminds me of a service garage here in my town that took the back 2-3 feet off an old GTX and did the same thing on the outside of their building with the taillights flashing.  There were more than twenty 911 calls a night for the first few days from folks who thought there was an accident.  The cops told them to they had to move it cause it was scaring people. So they raised it about 10 feet in the air - even more calls that night and then it disappeared completely.

While cleaning out my dad's garage I found the center grill and quarter panel inserts for a 57 chevy that will find its way to my garage wall someday.

A friend hung the tail of a 84 vette outside above the garage door, set it up so the taillights light up and cut the top off of beer cans an used them as exhaust tips.

I need to do something like that with the 77-78 nose I have hanging in my garage.  I could always use more light in that corner.

Here's a pic of a fender that was left over from a front clip I bought from a local salvage yard in '90. This was left over from the restoration and is in original paint...I have a old rear quarter from my 'vert and in need of a rusty door and I can hang the side of the car there... After taking these, I realized what a state of dissaray the garage is in... Oh yeah, I have two cars going thru a restoration..... Mike

Lurking under the blue cover is a 77 TA...

I have my old hood on my wall. I will get a pic up tomorrow. Thinking of getting an old tailgate and making a working tailgate shelf.

Now that is pretty cool...As far as hoods go, years ago I had a chance to get an authentic "Hot Wheels" hood off of an actual NASCAR race car... That would have been sweet 'cept for the $1500 price tag... The scary part is I actually thought about it...Mike
