Rear end identification
« on: July 18, 2016, 03:33:44 PM »
Trying to see what rear end is in my 1980 Trans Am.The axle tube stamp# being 2PW G113 1 on passenger side. The drivers side having 1254333 stamped on case, the passenger side stamped GM35 near fill plug. What rear differential is this?Any help appreciated as I haven't been able to make heads or tails of numbers on Google sites.Build sheet stating car had a 308 posi and trying to see if rear end was swapped out,as have yet to pull cover, previous owners rounding off plug.Well according to this site pw is a 308,so what does G113 mean that follows 2PW?Can someone decipher, thanks

A lot of casting codes, some were carried through the years and tell you nothing useful. G113 could be plant and date code, haven't checked what others have though.  3.08 posi sounds typical.
