Has anyone used Spaz Stix mirror chrome paint?
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:49:48 PM »
Thank you Brian for giving me some idea's on where to look to find chrome paint for the front grilles.

I found this paint called Spaz Stix and it is mirror chrome.

There are several steps you need to do before acheving the mirror look.

$12.00 for a 2oz bottle.

Anyone used this before?

Heidi,

I found the below reference sheet...

http://www.spazstix.com/images/thumbnail/Master_Reference_Guide_for_Spaz_Stix_Paint_Exterior_Applications.pdf

I was reading through it and it appears that the paint isn't recommended for exterior use. Also, it notes that if you use it on plain plastic, instead of the inside of an RC car body, it'll turn out with a brushed finish, not a mirror finish.

When we get that far I'm going to use Killer Chrome by Alsa Corp. http://www.alsacorp.com/index.htm
It's not cheap by any means but it's supposed to be the best.

Check out the video on Alsa's paint website. I think you'll change your mind...
(I did some metallizing work for them about 5 years ago...they've really grown!)
The "Killer Cans" are very unique...two part paint in a spray bomb...

I'm liking the killer chrome idea! I may give it a shot on my 77 grills. I bought a set of repro grills from ames not long ago and had to send them back since they wouldn't even fit in my openings.
