Might be looking to sell my 1978 Y82?
« on: December 05, 2008, 04:03:57 PM »
Hi,

I know the ecomony is tight and selling right now is not a great idea but I was thinking about selling my 78 Y82, PHS doc, "Z" code 6.6 Liter, 3sp auto, that I just bought in July. It has 85K miles, a one year old paint job and needs interior work. Not sure the highest price I could get for it now but is $15K asking too much? I think the spring time I could get more money but if I am going to sell I would rather sell it now. Located in Long Island, NY.

Sorry to hear you may have to part with your T/A.
I have been watching ebay for years now, and I think you should be able to  get close to the mid teen's . Like you say though ,you would sell it much quicker if it were  spring right now.
btw Thats a beautiful SE ,and I hope thing's  work out well for you

would guess u would have better shot at ur askin price if u would finish interior resto before listing. fully restored w good story, ie; ownership, mileage, matching #'s, documents - typically bring 20's. also multiple photos of car's underside always helps bidding.

good luck

I have a buyer for $13500. I really don't have time to finish the interior but it just needs the door handles fixed, the rear deck lid and headliner replaced and needs original radio. All the interior lights, horn and blower motor don't work. The gold has has faded from the dash and the steering column is flaking. The engine is not numbers matching and doesn't have cats on it. The transmisson slips alittle in first but otherwise is fine. The original ac has been disconnected. And there is a creaking noise in the rear, either when I hold the brakes or going over bumps.

I would say in light of the new info on the car (non matching #'s ,trans. work, interior, etc. ), I would take the 13,500 and run.
