As for the spoiler welting, I had to trim it quite a bit to get it to fit and then still had to super glue it to the flare to get it to stay in the position it needed to be in to seal against the body well.
They claim the repro stuff is the same as original but if you hold a piece of each up next to each other, it's clearly not exactly the same. It's really sickening how people make claims like that about products just to make a buck. So what if it isn't true. They got their money. Unfortunately, there is no other welting out there.

I'd use the welting.

why would you use the welting? because you want it original or it is better or what? It looks so terrible rightnow..my fiance says"what is that crap on there for...take it off it looks awful"...im not worried about it looking like original...

That's cool. If you're not concerned about it looking factory and you like the way they fit with out the welting, I would do as you stated before and apply the rubberized coating to smooth the rough edges.

If you plan to paint over it, just make sure it will accept paint. You may even be able to find it in a color that matches well so you don't have to paint over it. I know it comes in black so if you're going with black paint, you should be fine either way, painted or bare. I don't believe it will have a gloss finish to it. It's more of a satin I think.

I do prefer a stock appearance but that welting isn't just cosmetic...it also acts as a buffer between the edge of the flare and the body/paint (protecting both).
If you choose to use it, the factory used adhesive inside the seam of the welting to attach it to the wheel flare (and also a large staple at the top). If you paint, use a flex additive.

well I got some 15x7's from a member here. They make the car look great. I also got all the little things that make a car look like a car. Still need the front emblem and a few small things exterior. I will get door panels and headliner when I can afford it. otherwise here is my car the way it sets now....or yesterday I mean.

Justin, you should consider a photobucket account ... or sign up for the gallery here on the site.

Car looks good - what color is that?

Those pix are linked from the gallery here...as for color, looks like primer to me ;)

Car does look good...aside from the bodyshop issues you had, you can be proud to say you did most of the work yourself  ;D

They're all like 250x188 ... I'm running 1920x1200.  I thought it was primer but then I thought, maybe it's a dull gray.

I think Im going to call it dull grey. I like that better then "PRIMER". I mean primer has color to it. It is looking nicer and nicer. everyone is starting to notice it coming together now. I had the tech come and get car today for inspection. Because it was the first REAL drive the car has been on I told him id follow him. Im kinda friends with th guy. Ive known him for a few years but never really talked. I told him to be very hard about what he sees on the car and if there is anything and I mean anything wrong with the car to let me know. He knows what the car looked like and performed like before I ever met the guy so he could tell me whats wrong or right with it.

Car looks great Justin.  The Camaro rims had to go :o.  Snowflakes make the car.  Keep up the good work.  Did you find any parts in Carlisle?  I must have walked about 20 miles...man that place is great.  I was lookin for flares but found nothing.
Pretty soon she will be on the road...  8)
