Anyone check out the Venus transit Tuesday?
They are getting ready to open a new public observatory near me on the 16th of June.
Only three this side of the Mississippi for public use.
If anyone is interested the opening should be fun.
Located on Clay street,just north of state route 322 ( Mayfield road),near state route 528.
No need to bring any gear.

The Chagrin Valley astronomical society is about 3 miles south.
Dues are $48 per year,and this gets you access to the observing site and use of numerous telescopes.
I've got a few grand into gear,and joining a club is a cheap way to get started.
I meet quite a few great people at all the astro events.
we are having a big sky party June 22nd in Lodi Ohio, if anyone is interested.
Camping all weekend,with some great friends.
I get a chance to look through some expensive gear I could never afford.
The views are fantastic.

I wish they had something like that up here in CT, but the area is just too populated in my opinion. This is making me want to get my telescope out and start gazing again. It has been a few years now.

I still wish I had time to do that.... I have not had my telescope out in a long time. I used to love looking at the stars and the planets. I didn't realize that was so close to me here in Ohio. I might have to go check it out.

A link to our annual get together...although we sometimes get together in the fall.
Most folks get discouraged by buying a wally world telescope.
Once they get a look through a real scope,they usually want more.

I got Celestron NSX 11in with some other gadgets, Williams optics donated telescope when I was in Iraq,, the skies at night over there one of the best
places to observe, no and I mean no city light at all, now the dust was bad but on a good night in the mid 50s it was price less, was there when we
had the lunar eclipse happened in 07, even got some faint shots of the comet that was seen in Australia . That's a pretty good shot of Venus you got a Coranodo type telescope?
