Topic: Replaced break booster, extra rod part?

I installed a new break booster.  Real pain getting it out..
The new one had a rod around 5" or so...think some vehicle need this part?  Do I need it for my 76??
The old one did not have it unless I lost it when I replaced the master cylinder years ago.  The beaks have always been not too responsive..not much power since me restore.  Thinking a vacuum problem?  Bleeding the lines next week.
Just wondering if my problem is not using that rod.

Did you convert the brakes from Drum to Disc? If so you need to install a proportioning valve for a Disc brake setup. Also need a Master cylinder setup for Disc. And in some cases the clevis pin ( rod that connects brake peddle to booster) needs to be changed. That may be the leftover part you are referring to.

it originally had disk in front, same as before.

So.. you did not convert the rear to disc? If not I don't have a clue. If so then what I wrote previously applies
