my 1979 WS6 4spd 400 black 'n charcoal TA - hey now!
« on: June 29, 2013, 11:26:41 PM »
FINALLY! After much delay here are a couple pics of the '79 TA I purchased last year. Last one is from 2012 of my son, holding the plaque we won at an annual Father's Day car show held locally. Enjoy  >:D

Brief overview of this monster Z-code born in Van Nuys
WS6 performance package
4spd BorgWarner T-10 transmission
Pontiac 400 (L78) engine
Quadrajet carb
Power windows
Power antenna (rare feature outside of the '79 TATAs)
Original AC Delco CB + radio (no 8-track or tape player)
A/C
Rear window defrost
Starlite Black
1 of 2,485 produced in '79
Original build sheet included

The only updates I've done on it since purchasing is update the fuel line (insulated), added NOS OEM hood emblem along with NOS OEM cap emblems. It's incredible to drive and is a real head turner no matter where we take it.

Nice looking T/A. I have a friend who had one just like that one in the early 80's. W72, 4-speed, with tops. He sees mine and still wishes he had his back! I too have the Tri-band antenna with stereo and CB. Amazes me that it still works. Another amazing thing is that the stereo/40 channel cb was the most expensive option on my car, even more than a/c, or the WS-6 option. It was a whopping $574 option in 1979! That was a lot of money considering the total sticker price was $9400 new.

Thanks Winks79! We entered two shows in 2012 and took home "best of" in both for our class.

My parents owned a black/charcoal '79, with t-tops, but it was auto + smaller engine but I'd never forgotten about it after all these years. My mom WAS the same way until I bought this, having wished they'd never sold their's either back in the day.

I believe you regarding the radio! Mine still works as well - even with me punching through stations as I drive along. Great stuff  ;D
