i cant remember which cam its like an XE230 something or maybe in the 240's.  the guy building my engine suggested it.  He is a chevy builder at heart i believe but the cam runs very nice.  it is a super smooth cam but i want something with a little more lump to it.

For the guys who installed the XE 262 .. did you upgrade the valve spring or just using stock ones?... I was looking at this cam too but wasn't sure I could get away with it with stock springs...

from what ive heard you can get away with stock springs with this cam.  when you move up to the XE274 or XE268, thats when your starting to take risks.

yes, stock valve springs are fine.  as a matter of fact, my valve springs are the only component we didn't change in the engine.  Builder said they were fine, they tested them, and we went with them.

Please do test them if you are going to reuse the old 30+ year old valve springs.  If a spring is bad you cam will not open and close the valves properly and your engine will suffer.  I would replace them, cheap insurance in my opinion.  But stock replacements or the comp cam 988 valve springs are a great complament to the cam.
