Well, do you mess with nostalgia?
« on: January 13, 2009, 08:18:02 PM »
Well, do you mess with nostalgia?

I had to…

Here was the first change I made. (Notice the carpet on the speaker tray.)

It looked like someone skinned Cookie Monster.

The next thing was rolling the dice. (I took them off and replaced them with regular chrome caps.)

Another thing I am working on is taking off are these.

I mean I am not complaining because they took great care of her and even saved all the original owner's manuals in the glove box.

So, the questions remains…would you mess with nostalgia? Let’s here about some of the changes you made or decided to leave alone.

I'd leave them.  They'll protect the paint.

Well, I only had three caps, but I found the full set at a local O’Reilly Auto Parts Store and bought them from a good friend. I also got him the matching door locks. :)

If you can't find any around your way, I'll buy them here and ship them to you. :)

looking into installing a set on mine as well.... all it takes is one decent size rock/gravel to mess up a panel, not to mention road tar (common in the south in summer).

A previous owner put on these skull lock knobs for the interior door locks.  I think they're pretty cool with the red eyes.  If I get a pic I'll post it.
Yes, it is a 79 Y84 SE.  It's in disguise as a base T/A.

A wise man told me once (my grandfather) to take all the advice everyone wants to give, listen to what they have to say, and do what ever you like. He followed that with "opinions are like ***holes...everybody has one..."

I thought that was very comical coming from a 90 year old.

I say splash guards in, ditch the rest

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Could use some for mine, acutally.

i agree with everyone else. keep the mud flaps, ditch the rest. i put mud flaps on mine, i think it looks good either way. with and without them. before i put them on, i was getting tons of dirt, and a few small chips on the paint. your better off keeping them on in my opinion
