Wheel Sizes
« on: February 17, 2012, 12:25:55 PM »
All,

I have a non-trans am question regarding wheels and was hoping you guys could help since i never get a response froml the Subaru Forums.

I am trying to improve the handling on my 2010 subaru WRX and was thinking about upgrading to an 18 inch wheel to give me less sidwall on my tire.  Stock the car comes with 17X7 and i would like to know what i could fit without having any issues.  I do not want the tire to stick out of the fender, nor do i want it to rub when turning.   Is there a way to determine how much wider i can go without running into issues?  I was thinking a 18X8 but don't know what that would look like/what kind of issues i would run into.

Any help would be great.  Thank you

An 8" wide wheel is only a 1/2" wider on each side, so should fit, you need to know back spacing so you can get it to where you want
