Yuck!
« on: April 20, 2010, 05:32:01 PM »
When the wind kicks up, the sand goes in the sky. I'm just glad that I didn't do my hair today.

angry about, my daughter taught me that.

You're right Heidi. I don't let the kids go outside during these storms but I can still smell the dirt that makes it's way in here. Luckily it started raining and there is very little sand in the air as I speak.

Does this happen often?  Gesh, what that must do to vehicles when driving.  The fine sand particles that hit the paint and windshield!  Talk about a new meaning for sand blasting!!!

Heidi, it's pretty common in the spring, summer and fall. And of course we have to deal with smoke from fires in summer as well. No, it's not good to drive in weather like this. Not only is it dangerous because it can push you off the road but like you said it sandblasts the windshield and paint.

I can't imagine what it would have been like to live in Oklahoma in the 20s, 80TAPaceCar. I've read accounts of it, absolutely terrifying.

We get snow too and I can't say which is worse than the other.

I know the biggest problem with snow is the ice that comes along with it. Not to mention having to shovel feet worth of snow off of our driveway at the house and at work.

Well we don't get that much snow and not much ice either.

Wow that looks terrible . I used to live in the Crowsnest Pass Alberta and we got wind speed over 100mph ,actually close to 200 mph a half hour east at times . I really hate wind and am very fortunate to be living n BC now .
Funny its only under a 2 hour drive from the Crowsnest to Cranbrook ,but a world of differance weather wise

I didn't think you Guys actually got wind and crap weather where your at ?  I heard someone here say newmexico can get some dusty wind storms  at times though
