This is the tool I've always used (rear glass is fairly easy, windshields take a lot more patience).

The Cougar looks good...I had a '70 XR7 MANY years ago so I've always liked them.

Thanks for your help.  I'm sure I'll have lots of questions.  I started taking this apart 10-15 years ago, when I was young and dumb haha.

For anyone that might be interested in other non Trans Ams.  Here is the 1968 Mercury Cougar that my Dad and I finished this summer.

Thanks Jeff.

Years ago the front windshield broke when trying to remove it.  In my searches on the internet in general, Many people suggested having a glass guy do the windsields (front and rear).  I really would like to do this all myself, so here is how successfully removed the rear,

I had bought a hot knife off of amazon and broke it almost immediately.  So, my Dad and I resorted to heating up putty knives and using them to cut through the seal on the windshield.  Once an area was free a wood shim was placed.  All shims were placed from the inside except for the rear lower part of the rear windshield.  Those were pushed in from the outside.  All this was done slowly.  After all shims were placed window was inspected for any hang ups then rear windshield was lifted right out.  It took some time but worked well.

This is a little bit of a jump back in the process.

It's usually worse than we think once you start digging in.
And you are right...I'm happily surprised at some of the once unavailable parts that are now being made.

Looking good so far!

Not sure if this falls under the same realm, or if the changes in hosting was made.  I did try to click on the a number of links on the 78ta page, not the forum and they did not work.  I believe these were under the information tab.  i.e. leaning seat fix, seat covers, headliner and others.  Could these be fixed or is that, lost?  Still lots of good information on the site.  I haven't been on the site in awhile but have a renewed focus on working on my project.  Thanks.

Trunk are has needed a large amount of work.  I had worked on some patches before the long break.  Been welding and grinding to clean it all up.  While not perfect I am overall happy with how it has been coming out.

There was also some rot around the trunk hinges.  The bright side of waiting is that panel is now being repopped.  Much more body work ahead.  Car is much rougher than previously thought.
