« on: September 12, 2016, 01:12:44 AM »
I'm a Mopar guy who is getting into Trans Ams, just want have all my codes/facts straight! It has been a while since I watched the movies, but IIRC:

The first movie was a black interior 1977 Y82 SE correct?

The second movie was a black interior 1980 Y84 SE, right? Were SE cars available with different colour interiors?

Not exactly, but close.

The first movie cars were 76's with 77 front ends :)

You are correct.
I went for the straightforward answer since the movie represented the car as a '77 ... and usually when someone is building a movie replica, they would  typically use a '77 (vs a '76 w/a '77 nose).
Of course the producers used a '76 due to lack of availability of '77 models.

My 77 SE came with red interior, but I changed it to black.  The last I heard the new owner is changing it back to red.

Has anybody here seen a 1980 Y84 with a red interior?  I've just seen black or tan interiors on the 1980 Y84's.

There was also 82 trans ams built by trans am specialties in cherry hill nj,for universal studios for use in the Smokey and the bandit three movie, they were special edition cars signed by Burt Reynolds one of which was numbered as bandit#99, with a high performance 305 egg, and a 5spd trans. T-tops . There were only a few made and I'm not sure how many are left, but I just happen to own one. This car has lots of history and documentation. If interested in more info, pics etch, let me know, this car is still in good condition inside and out and runs strong
