Just curious if anyone has ever attended the "Somernites Cruise" event in the past. I went for the 1st time last year and it was awesome! For anyone that has never been, here's a brief rundown. It all begins on Friday night with a big block party in the downtown area. The next day, the downtown area remains closed for the "Show & Shine" event. Half of the area is designated for only the featured vehicle of that month. Finding all those F-body's showcased together is AWESOME! Immediately following the show, everyone heads out to the main strip (3 lanes wide both ways) and cruises into the late hours of the night. Spectators line up on both sides of the road for miles & miles to watch the cars cruise up and down the road, cheering everyone on! For a smaller town, these folks sure know how to show people a great time. There is an abundance of lodging and restaurants. Although reservations are recommended for the lodging. And BIG NEWS about the July 26-27 show! Somernites Cruise will commenorate the 40th Anniversary of the release of AMERICAN GRAFFITI with a weekend celebration! Festivities will include a screening of the movie at the Friday Night Block Party to be introduced by stars from the film...Candy Clark, Cindy Williams and Bo Hopkins! Replicas of cars from the film will also be onhand all weekend long! This will be a once in a lifetime tribute! Maybe I'll get to see someone there!
