Topic: 1977 build sheet codes

Can someone tell my the difference between the factory code(s) B93, listed as "Door Edge Guards" and  B84, listed as "Body Side Moldings"?

I've seen these codes on several cars, and am not exactly sure what they are.

I believe the Body side moldings are the chrome or painted trim that runs down the side of the car. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, and the Door edge guard is the pieces that slide on the end of your door to protect it from paint chips if you open your door and clip something with the end of your door. Once again I am not 100% sure though.

B93 is vertical guards on the door edges....B84 is horizontal moldings down the side of of the body (doors and fenders).

I dont like the guards on the door edge.   they speed up the rust on the door.  the t/a Im working on now has (had) them.   and the metal under them is pitted .

I don't either. But I've seen a clear material that is also thinner than the old style that isn't as noticeable. As for the moldings, to me they're more of a retro look. I'm leaving them off mine for a cleaner look. But then if you're going for a full resto then of course they should be put back. It's all a personal preference thing.
