TAC UPDATE 1-9-07
« on: January 09, 2007, 08:42:58 AM »
Its Tuesday morning 1-9-07. I spoke with Mr. Bandit Saturday on the phone for about for about 45 minutes on the whole deal. He has to rebuild the ENTIRE SITE!!
All our posts on the forum are saved. They were backed up on a disc. He has to get the various pieces and graphics from his computer at his job. That was going to be yesterday. Mike totally lost 4 websites he had built for a few companies also. He was VERY down about the whole deal.
I will tell you all this from Mike.
Had it NOT been for the support we show for each other over the years, and the car show participation in NC, he would NOT even be attempting to re-do this. It's a LOT of work. The fact that WE keep TAC what it is, its whats getting him off the mat and back in the fight.
Mike said TAC WILL be back. It will be different. It got a DIET. Some things like the Firebird regestry were lost, gone, not recovered. The CHAT will return, bird of the month will return. He is re-doing the Chapter section a different way.
He's getting this done between working, getting a home built, and raising 4 kids and a family. TAC dosn't pay the bills, its a hobby, it WILL return.
Give it time.
We owe a HUGE thank you to BRETT for giving us a place to roost while this happens.
Thats the latest update. I'll post more as I get it. Thanks all of you!!

Yes Thanks to Both Brett and Mike and all the others that help along the way for the Forums, sites, advice, etc.. and most of all for providing a safehaven for all of us with this damn Bird addiction!

Just got this update from Mike... he asked me to post it here:

Quote
If there weren’t enough problems the new release of the forum software Brett and Myself are using won’t allow multi-port connections without a mod.  That includes AOL users and any ISP with multiple connections to the internet.  I’ve been trying to reply to everyone on Brett’s board, but my work has multiple connections.  The forum software uses the IP to create a session ID.  When my internet request is shifted to another port my request is given a new IP on the fly.  The forum see’s my new address and flags the ID as invalid (ie…hacker).  This very thing was killing my restore yesterday, as well as not letting me post on Brett’s site when I tried to let everyone know what was going on.  It is also the reason others on Brett’s site are getting the Invalid Session error.  It is a known issue with version .19 - .21, which is the latest.

Anyhow, after seeing the porn spam this morning I just deleted everything and will start over again tonight.

I didn't understand one single thing that Mr. B said.... BUT... thanks for going through all of this over and over again to get us up and going again...

Brett... thanks for inviting us into your roost... it's nice to have a place to hang out again... problem is... now it's likely you won't get rid of us even when TAC is up and running again ;)
