76TA SE - What should I be looking at?
« on: December 16, 2013, 10:59:38 PM »
Friend is looking to purchase a '76 TA SE with T-Tops. Just got done with a full frame off restore.

First question is: What color should the underbody and frame be?

Other than that, everything looks right to me from first glance. Numbers match, correct stamps, very mint with all original or NOS parts (except exhaust and some repro interior).

What should I be looking for, and is there anything specific that is a forehead slapper that I need to pay attention to?

Any and all info is appreciated!

Underbody would be/should be red oxide color.

Aside from checking all sheetmetal (top to bottom), engine and trans numbers, etc...I'd check the VIN on the dash and title as well as behind the heat/AC case on the firewall to make sure they all match. And PHS would be a definite check to verify it's a true LE.

Thanks guys. I was able to get a bunch of info from someone with amazing knowledge on this year.

The car is a 50th anniversary SE, 4 Speed, 455, with T-Tops. Out of the 110 made, who knows how many are still with us.

I'll let you know if it pans out.
