1979 10th 400 4 speed cylinder head question
« on: May 13, 2011, 08:51:25 PM »
What would be the aproximate date code spread between head date code and production date of a 79 TATA, or would it vary quite a bit given it was the last year of the 400 4spd and scarcity of 400 motors/heads.., any ideas. For example date code of heads beginning of JUne 1978, Feb 79 TATA production date......Any ideas or thoughts. Thanks Chris....

They could be all over the place, I know for the block itself, the last 400 made was around November of 1977.

As Brett mentioned, the final blocks were cast Nov 1977, specifically, on a Sunday, Thanksgiving week 1977.  The 6X #4 cylinder heads were cast a as late as April, May, June 1978.
