are all trans ams the same lenght or are some styles shorter

I think they all share the same basic dimension (70 - 81).  The front nose, rear bumpers, hoods, shakers have changed along the way as well as the spoilers, flares. 
The 70-74 have flat rear windows with the wrap arounds starting in '75 I believe it was.

So the length will vary based on the bumper/nose more than anything else.

Ya, the nose, for the most part, is the differentiator from about '74 through 81.
