Harry,
Car sounds and looks really good.  Man would I love to get that for my car.  Still running about 75% of the original exhaust.  Not really sure how to proceed. :-\

Unless you have an affinity for lots of work and are going for max all-out performance, I'd use the RARE pieces.  I have a set of original RAIII manifolds on my 75 400 4 speed and wouldn't think of using anything else.  Just my $0.02, FWIW.

Quick question. How do the shorty header and RARE manifolds hold up to gasket leaks and blowouts compared to the all too common problematic full length headers? Also does any one recommend solid motor mounts? Or are they too harsh? Need opinions and answers before I drop my motor in. Thanks

the RARE manifolds will give years of trouble free miles shorty, headers are the worst they have all the trouble of headers (exp. instalation) and don't make any more power than RARE manifolds, at least long tube headers will give you more power for your troubles, I switch to the RARE manifolds with 2.5 pipes from long tubes years ago and never looked back.

Solid motor mounts will transmit engine vibration

Ok thanks guys. looks like i'll be saving up about $400 for some manifolds, bolts, and flanges. I need the RM-2 correct? Alonng with 2.5 flange?

Also, my car ,as i'm sure many of y'alls do, already has many vibrations from the engine, road, etc. I'm concerned with harshness on the frame work. I have sub-frame connectors and solid body mounts ready to install. i just dont want to beat or twist the car to death by not allowing for any natural twist or motion. I want a solid feeling car, but not to the point of torturing myself or the car itself. Is my explaination clear as mud? lol

I just noticed the RARE manifolds have only 4 holes to bolt to the heads. Is this going to be secure enough rather than the six offered on stock logs and headers?

What about Percy's? I have a set i was going to use with my headers. Shouldn't they work with manifolds too?

I had the deadsoft metal gaskets.  Wasn't as soft and malleable as I expected ... that said, they were the Summit brand.  Perhaps Percy's are fine, I just opted for Remflex at the time to get away from the bad taste of the metal variant.

These appear to be very soft and pliable....might give them a try. The gaskets are easier to change with the manifolds than with headers anyway ...right?

Oh yeah.  Headers can have you under the car for certain bolts on installation - typically the rear bolts on the #7 & #8 locations.

Thank you Mr. Phillips. I'm fixing to order the RARE Manifolds. Found a good deal on them.
