Blinkers are funny animals.  I was thinking you might have a bad bulb.  Are you sure all the blinkers work?  Try switching the bulbs left to right...the rear and front blinkers.  Really you could just switch the rear ones....cause that could be where your problem is.  Is just a long shot that won't take you long to try.  You might get lucky.  When you switch them...if the right side in the cluster no longer lights up, you've found the culprit...bad bulb.

I had a blinker problem about six years ago.  I thought I went through the diagnostics correctly and concluded I needed a new column harness.  But I thought first I'd change the front blinker bulb.  That was the problem.  I even bought the harness and was ready to install.  I still have the harness on the shelf.

In order to test if grounds work, you'd need to set the VOM on
the lowest resistance setting and touch the leads together, it
should read nearly zero. This is a simple loop testing to see if
there's continuity. The actual numerical number on the meter
isn't important. Some VOM's even have a separate position for
just continuity. Some also beep when continuity is checked.

How are we doing so far?

ta78w72 was right!!  The 5 and 6 pins on the new harness are switched compared to the old...Those are both the left blinker and the water temp pins....I'm gonna switch it arround we'll see what happens!

Boy, that was a long shot!  But it proves that with electrical problems you've got to be methodical.  Start with the basics and work your way through the circuits.  But when you're paying $800 for a harness it should be correct.

I'm glad it's all working now.

Ok, what i think I'll do is an article with some pictures to
illustrate. It's somewhat a reoccuring question, and needs
some elaboration so a lot more folks can use it as a dignostic
tool. Most have the meter, but many don't know how to
use it.
