That'd be cool ... is that statement based on the economy turning around?  Do you have some insight the rest of us don't?  Post a link ... I'd love to see some good news for a change.

Hey, we had an election last year -- people voted for change.  Are you telling me you've had enough? ??? ???

I didn't vote for the Chicago thugs who have no clue on how to run this country.  There used to bribes and kickbacks as near as I can tell.

People wonder why gas is going up while there's ample supply ...  that's an easy one to answer.

Hi and welcome.  W72's got the 4-speed.  T/A 6.6 decal and chrome valve covers are also indicators if original to the car.  That will be a Borg-Warner Super T-10, not a Muncie tranny.  A 1977 SE hardtop is AKA the elusive Y81.  Pretty nice find you have there.  Congrats!

I have never seen a TA, regardless of motor type, that didn't have the T/A 6.6 decal on the shaker...  I'm not saying that there weren't any produced that way, but my question is that did the factory send out TA's with the L78 motor or the 403 motor and those cars did not get the T/A 6.6 decal?  And, should my L78 gold TA not have the T/A 6.6 decal on the shaker?

I have read about the T/A 6.6 motor being different then the L78 motors and the 403 motors but I didn't think that is what decided the decal on the shaker....  I know that 31 years can bring about a lot of changes that are "non-factory"...

Hi SK,

I am by no means the expert here, but Hitman has some info on the site that might help...here's the link   http://www.78ta.com/66liter.php

My understanding is that the W72 engine got the "T/A 6.6" decal and the 403 Olds and L78 got "6.6 Litre"

T MAC is right ... I've read that info elsewhere as well.     Your 1977 L78 400 should have a "6.6 Liter" decal to be correct.

OK, thanks!  I can now remember seeing some of the 77/78 SE cars with the "6.6 litre" decal but I don't ever recall seeing that decall in anything other then the german font.  IE, never recall seeing that"6.6 litre" decal on any other car....

So, if I go to some car show are they going to dock my car because it's got the incorrect decal on the shaker?  Don't anybody worry because I can't see me going to anything but cruise in's and local amatuer shows...  This line of questioning is just from curiousity...

I don't worry too much about shows - I'm sure the answer is yes but life's too short to sweat it.  If it bugs you, it's $20 and a heatgun and you're back to "stock".

That said, kids are too busy wondering what the car is or if they know, what year your car is.  Older people or saying, "I remember those cars".

Drive it, enjoy it ... nobody has the perfect car but you still get looks.  It's all good.

John,

I'm not worried at all about shows!  I won't ever have a 100 point car to get worried about those details- I was just clarifying the detail, even if I don't practice that detail.  I'm leaving my car as is, driving it and having a good time with it.

Thanks for your help!
