So.. I hear that the 81 gas tank door is suppose to have the emblem molded to it and its the only year like this.
Does that mean if the emblem was missing, you'd tell that something should be there?

 Yes, the emblem fits into a molded in outline area for it...

hmm.. well. apparently my tail lights are not from an 81.
Guess I need to track down an 81 fuel door so i can pop my bird insert in it.
