George is like a 9 hour drive south of us.

Well, today was spent on more of the same...disassembly. Got the rear axle out and everything off the subframe. Then Johnathan spent the better part of the day sand blasting the subframe, control arms, springs, transmission crossmember and the core support. It has been a dirty dusty day and we're both wore out.

Between you and that other site,(Pro-tour.com) I'm getting sick, :'( The weather is crap, and no room in garage, have to swing on a vine to get to other side. ::) And I'm not moving my pace car out.

I have a question guys...

The front harnesses (lights and engine) are pretty grimy, what should I use to clean them? You know, something strong enough to get the grime off but doesn't harm the harness. Or perhaps we should replace those harnesses? They seem to be in great condition (other than dirty) but safety is number one importance. Should they be replaced instead of cleaned?

I cleaned mine with greased lighting it took a little time and then  re taped where the factory tape looked bad and it has been doing fine and you can't really tell it hasn't been replaced. I looked it over real good and couldn't any breaks or problems  so I just reused them. If you can't get them clean enough I think I would replace them you don't want a ugly wiring harness to take away from the looks of the rest of the car.

Wow. This is another I have missed out on seeing. Congrats on it and MAN you guys are movning right along. Looks like it is in great shape. Was there a build sheet under back seat or just the piece ontop of gas tank?

Thanks for advice T/A Kid.

Anyone else have any input on the harness?

Justin, no buildsheets in the car, just the partial on the top of the tank.

now heres what i would do to determine replacement,
first are there any breaks or cuts that shouldnt be there?
second are you going to a factory nut and bolt resto or just a clean looking driving car ?
third, how do the wires feel, kinda brittle and old, or still seem to have good life in them?
fourth, is it in the budget ?

eroc is right.... a full inspection should determine your plan. If the wires are pliable then I would say ok to clean.. stiff and brittle will equal a head ache later on.

A good degreaser will work great, however I would replace the looms completely.
