AC Bracket, Compressor, & Protective Foam
« on: July 17, 2007, 01:58:53 PM »
Does anyone know where I can get a missing bolt and spacer for the rear AC bracket to the compressor?  I attached a picture with an pointing to it.

The AC compressor works fine but has always leaked oil (See 2nd Pic).  I was going to have the seal replaced but was told it's best to get a new compressor.  The reason I was given is they don't last or won't seal correctly.  Just wanted to know if anyone had suggestions, recommendations, or experiences with this problem.
I also put a yellow arrow on an AC line I think is not run correctly.  Does it belong on the bottom?

Where can I get replacement foam protecting the lines?

Thanks for the help.  Everyone's been great! ;)

You'll need a bolt and spacer from a donor car....or find stuff that fits from the hardware store.  That muffler hose should run over, not under the hose with the arrow (at least that's how mine is).  Is that a 79?  If you're leaking freon, then it's best to replace that compressor.  Next thing the bearings will freeze up on you.  That's what happened to my car after two years.....1978-1980.  So if that one is original, it's on borrowed time anyway.

Sorry about that.  It's a 1978 T/A 6.6 - 400

It does not leak freon and it is the original compressor.  Where's a good place to get a new compressor?

Thanks.

Do like I did and build a spacer out of an old bushing and use a 3/8 course bolt and washer.
I found my compressor on ebay, but I think Ames is now selling A-6 compressors pretty reasonable.

Here's mine, I haven't found the foam insulation either.  I picked this piece up from the dealership just to help protect the line from the hood.
