need help with power-steering bracket #670 heads
« on: August 09, 2013, 07:27:00 PM »
does anyone have ideas on how I can properly mount my power steering bracket on these heads? they are missing the accessory hole needed to properly mount the bracket. I have been searching the internet and I am at my wits end. I use to have Jim Hands book on building engines and I believed he addressed this issue and it was a very simple idea. The problem I am having now is the bracket pivots and the belt comes loose.  Thanks!

In Jim Hands book, he made a bracket.  It was a piece of flat steel bar stock, maybe 1.25" wide x 1/4" thick x 8" long (guessing while looking at the book).

It was thru-drilled to let bolts go through at the 2 tapped holes in the head in the lower right of your picture.  Then he drilled and tapped the top hole where the one you need is missing.

His was for a 71 LeMans Wagon.  It looks to me like the bracket he made would push your T/A brackets out away from the head and maybe keep the pulleys from lining up right.  You might need to modify your stock bracket to make something similar work.
