How to check if tach is good
« on: July 18, 2012, 04:34:42 PM »
Hello All,
I am trying to tell which tachometer is good out of 3 that I currently have. The gauge clusters are currently out of the car. When all the wiring was hooked up for the tach at the distributor, the car wouldn't start. The tach that came out of my car wasn't working and I bought a gauge cluster from ebay and the other was from a donor car. The one from ebay, bounches when you lightly shake it while the other two are stuck and do not bounce. Does that mean that the one that bounces (moves) is a good one? I want to have a gauge cluster that works before I put it in the car. Is there an electrical test that I can do to see if the tach is good?                                                 John W
