Topic: What is this??

Hey guys,

I am in the process of doing a interior freshening up on my 1980 T/A and came across something weird under the driver's side dash.  It looks like a white plastic sleeve that is kind of shoved up under the steering column.  It also appears to have three connected Red (Pink), Blue, and Black wires running in it partially, but not for the full length of the plastic piece.





Is this just a wiring sleeve or did it fall off something else?  Should this Red (Pink), Blue, and Black wire be inside the sleeve completely?  What is so special about this wire?!

Going off my '78 and '79 columns, that's a wiring sleeve/protector. What its covering, again in those years, is the cruise control wiring. Probably the same function in '80.

IF it were me, I'd stuff the wiring back into the sleeve/protector and stuff it back into the steering column where it normally belongs.

Agreed....the sleeves I've seen were black in color but functioned the same (rode inside the steering column and protected the cruise wiring)

Great guys!  Thanks for the information!  I will get those wires tucked back in the sleeve neatly before I button everything up again!
