« on: June 26, 2009, 06:12:37 PM »
Can someone please list all of the possible places to find a secondary vin?  Please be as specific as possible.

Thank you

Drivers door, buildsheet.  The build sheet could be in the seats, dash, or ontop of the gas tank.

A partial VIN is indeed stamped twice on the firewall (both behind the heat/ac case).

Is it only a partial?....i assumed it was the whole vin.  I've only read about it in HPP, in a story where a guy thought he bought a true super duty only to find out it wasn't.

I ned the secondary vin because I went down to DMV to verify the car, and they were only able to find the dash vin and needed a secondary vin.  The door panel doesnt match because it was replaced.  So now I need to wait till july 13th to verify it at the CHP office...but july 13th!!!!!  Thats waaaaaay to far away, considering I can't even drive the car on the road.  But unless I find a secondary vin, I guess I'll just keep working on the minor stuff in my driveway till then.

No reason to put it off if you want it verified...pull the heater/ac box off the firewall and you have your proof.

can anyone post some pics or something of where they are found?  Im in the process of taking the ac/heat box off, can anyone give me some instructions on how to take it off?  I know I should wait till my shop manual gets here but I figured I'd give it a try.

Thanks
