1977 Hurst Hatch W72 Trans Am project- $1500
« on: April 12, 2007, 03:24:50 PM »
Previous owner had it running last summer for a few minutes.  I bought it not running and trailered it home.  It is a project car, needing mechanical, interior and body work.  W72 engine I would assume by the valve covers. Mostly complete- I noticed it is missing the interior rear armrest panels and the A/C brackets and the horn button.  Power windows and locks, tilt, cruise, t-tops, factory console 8-track, deluxe interior.  I put 14" snowflakes on it.  The tires are 70% tread.  I have a good hood I will let go with the car.  $1500  Located in west Kentucky zip code 42082.

Are you sure about that? ??? I have a 77 TA auto with the W72 engine; it shows that combo on the PHS documentation.

I have a 77 SE with PHS and  it's a W72 auto.  Also had another 77 auto I sold a couple of years ago with W72.  Those hatches were famous for shaking while you were cruising down the road at 80.  If they popped off the car they became "Burst Hatches" .  Sometimes I get in a hurry when I'm typing on the computer on the clock.

It's tempting to just buy that from you instead of all the parts on my list, Mike :D :D

My 78 has a numbers matching W72 with an auto trans.
You could still get a W72 with and automatic trans until early 78.
Here is the link: http://www.78ta.com/HTMLobj-16215/W72TECH06.pdf

That looks like a nice project for the price.  Somebody should jump on that.
