The owner claims this is one of the original TAs used in Smokey and the Bandit 2:

If it were me selling the car, I would show the proof of it being in the movie.
He doesn't seem to have any proof at all.
On the whole, it is a 1 of 12 cars.
That should be worth something.

Except it's not. The 12 cars are hard tops. He has 1 of 463 with t-tops.
"slckwilly" doesn't have one fact straight. Looking at the few pictures he's got and the silver wheels and missing stripes I'm starting to wonder if it's even an SE.
-
and it has a turbo hood the 305 cars had a shaker hood
-
You know Larry,
I was going from memory on the 305 engines for the SE cars.
I checked, and you are right.
Sorry about that.
I had to go out in the garage to check. ::)

Yep, another scam artist on Ebay trying to beat some poor sucker out of his/her hard earned money.

My memory is far to bad (killed too many brain cells as a teen) to remember either. I've just gotten in the habit of checking the production numbers whenever I see someone make a statement like he did.

yea i rember a man that lived around me and he did have an orginal 77 smokey and the bandit car and he had all the docs and that went with it but he started buying up all the 77-78 tas he could get and made copys of the docs and passed the phoneys off as the real things so i dont know what to say about it
-
I haven't watch those smokey and the bandit movies...it was when Burt was on the downside of his career. And, Jackie Gleason did the movie for the money. He was a great spender with the philosophy that money was to have fun with. Anyway, was a turbo hood car in that particular movie? And, why would a southern california company buy cars from a Burlingame Pontiac dealer? That's a distance of around 450 miles.
Also, to be sold and delivered in California, it had to be a 50 state car. Is this a 50 state car?
-
Yeah, it was a turbo hood car in S&B II.
Also, as mentioned on TAC, why a CA car when most of the filming was done in Florida??
Slick willy ain't that slick :D :D
-
Lets also take a look at some of the obvious as well.....
His sail panel bird is a turbo bird....
Smokey and the Bandit II Sail Panel bird..... regular bird......
His tail lights and gas door has the bird on it......
Smokey and the Bandit II tail lights and gas door..... no bird......
I could also go on about stripes and everything else, but you get the idea...
-
The old saying still goes: " If it sounds to good to be true, it is! "
-
I posted these questions for him:
Ok, I can understand about the rims being polished and maybe the change of the engine.... but what about all of the other difference between your car and the car from the movie, like your lack of CB ant. on the trunk, the wrong stripes on the car, the wrong sail panel birds on the car, the wrong tail lights on the car..... I can go on about all of the things wrong with some statements you are making, but what is your reasoning about all of these differences?? Can you explain them? Also, where is the proof of the title of the car? Where is the documentation? I see nothing at all.
Lets see what he responds.

Ha! You beat me to it.

Here was his response:
are you looking at smokey and the bandit TWO? i actualy have
the cb and just like all cb's it had a magnet bottom on it and
comes right off, you cn still see in the t-top seal where the wire
was ran thru, i drove this car for a bit and didnt want a cb ant
coming off it.. THIS IS ONE OF THE CARS USED (THERE WAS
ABOUT 6 TO MY UNDERSTANDING) read the apprasial i
left a picture of! i also have a copy of orginal sales reciept with same
vin number.. dont know why so many people doubt this... look
at the apprasial and vin number... im not lying and have no
reason too, thanks for looking. i have 68 people already
watching this so good luck
Here is my response back to him:
Yes, I am thinking of Smokey and the Bandit TWO, Smokey and the Bandit ONE had a 1977 Trans Am and Smokey and the Bandit THREE has a 1984 Trans Am, so number TWO is the only one that had a Trans Am CLOSE to what you are selling. The CB ant in the movie was mounted on the trunk with the wire drilled trhough the trunk lid and not and the roof with the wire running through the t-tops like you claim. What about all of the other differences I asked about? Tail Lights? Stripes? Sail Panel Bird? How can you explain those? So, the question is, did YOU watch Smokey and the Bandit TWO? I have photos for proof if you want to see them of why your car COULD NOT have been used in the movie. 68 people watching so good luck to me? What you actually think I am going to bid on this car? Sorry, I do not like to buy things from people who mislead you into purchasing something it is not.
-
Damm, you guys are GOOD, no point in me listing mine as a Special Edition driven exclusively by Mr Reynolds? Poo, just as well you dont look on ebay uk............. you dont do you?
-
oh, we look EVERYWHERE ! ! !
-
Don't bother, Steve...everyone knows I have the original Bandit parked in my garage :D :D :D :D
-
Here was his last response..... notice again, he never answered any questions about why the car is different.
"okie dokie!! then why did you even write in the first place.... have a
nice life"
Then he sent this email:
"Dont know why I let it get to me but I just watched it and eerything is exactly! The same, don't know what your looking at"
Exaclty the same??? What movie is he watching?
-
You just have to remember the old adage about arguing with an idiot -- even if you "win", he's still an idiot. ;)
-
Wow! This guy is way out there, apparently he hopes someone will take him at his word. The sad truth is, probably someone will. I could'nt help noticing that the appraisal he photograghed appears to have been doctored. The vin# and the 1980 trans am as well as a couple other important facts are in bold type and appear clearer than the rest If I was thinking about buying the car I'd contact the appraisal company for the original document, their contact info. is clearly visible in the pic! Takes all kinds!
-
Turn him into ebay!

-
This really is a classic case of the guy that runs after ambulances shouting for ICE CREAMS!!!!!
-
Now he rwesponds with this even AFTER I show him the photos:
"Birds exact. Stripes exact. Rear end and tail lights are exact,
eveything is exact except for the car they filmed burt in has not cb
wire and leather seats, the cars they used for stunts have cloth seats
and magnet mounted cb. Just felt like correcting you. And also read
the appraisal from a classic car apprasier which is notarized, is he
wrong to.. Haha, please do your research and if you don't want the car
then dont send me anything. Good day to you sir"
And then this:
"Like I said, that's burts car,not one of the stunt cars, they are all
different if you actually watch the movie. Just like burts car has
leather and the ones used in stunts have cloth. Call Pontiac historic
services and research the vin. And if your not buying it dont you have
anything else to do? Must be a pretty boring exsitence sitting on ebay
all day sweating people. So let me get this straight, I'm lying,
Pontiac historic services are lying, the sales reciept with vin is
lying and a classic car apprasier who went thru Pontiac is lying. Get
a life"
Rick, you are right, I am done with this idiot. I say we go on there and bid thecrap out of it to over $100,000. See what he does then.
-
He got someone to bid..................
-
That appraisal isn't notarized. He has an embossed stamp that says "certified appraisal". A notary will notarize a signature validating that the person signing the document.....is the person signing the document.
-

That's exactly correct -- the notary doesn't certify or represent in any way that what is on the paper is true or accurate. I could write up a story about my car being one of one 455 SDs made in 1975, but the engine blew up and I wasn't able to save any of the pieces, but my car is still worth $165,000 because it's one of one -- and have it notarized. All the notary would be doing is verifying my ID as the person who signed the paper upon which the story is printed. :-\ ;)

You've got the only 455 SD made in '75?!?!?!?!?!?!?
-
Yep, and for only $2 mil it could be yours...ROTFLMAO!!! :D :D :D
-
I doubt 2 mill, you don't have the numbers matching engine. ;)
George 8)
-
Oh wait!
Yes you could ask 2 mill.
You have the promo thirdgen wheels that were designed in early 1975, and have the only set ever made, till Pontiac decided to make them in 1984 and up.
Sorry, I forgot about that. ;D ::)

Yeah, the guy sounds sadly misinformed...maybe not trying to pull one off so much as just being stupid enough to believe in his own lack of knowledge. ::)
Now get a life Brett ;) :D :D (j/k)
-
I've got this bridge in Brooklyn up for bid................. ;D
