78 Gas cap color

For my next project, I was able to get the metal gas cap for the 78, stamped 560526, of course it has 30 years of use to it. Does anyone know what color they were new, it appears to be gray but has some areas that look like it could have been silver??? Any thoughts??

My original gas cap has the same goldish plating as used on the brake booster.

WOW, wasn't expecting that, not even a hit of gold on this one, Even the original one that was on my 78 when I bought it and like an AZZ threw away during the resto was grey/silver
