Scratches on T-tops
« on: March 13, 2007, 06:30:57 PM »
Can scratches be removed from the t-tops that have the gold tint?  Mine are in very sad shape but I have a chance to buy a set with very light scratches.  Is there a kit for this or a company that can remove scratches?

They do have compounds that you can buy to do the glass polishing yourself.  They do take out the light scratches, but don't take out anything deep.

Check out these links:

Do you know if any of these kits will affect the gold tint?

You polish the outside of the glass..... the gold tint is on the inside.

The hard part is buying something with any kind of scar that I'd like to make into show quality ...and there is no guarantee that the scratches will come completely out...or is  paying the money the hard part.   :'(

yeah, there is no garauntee that the scratches will come out.  It is all kinda buy it and hope that it will take out the scratches.  I have used many different things before to polish the glass and most of the stuff works for the small fine scratches, but if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, then chances are it will not come out.

How often do you see a set of Gold tinted T-tops that are in perfect shape?  No scratches, tint not fading, no scars what so ever...and for sale?

There is a set for sale in the parts section and I also have a perfect set as well.  I have actually had 4 sets of them in the past 3 years.  The Silver Mirrored T-tops though I have had no such luck finding a perfect set.  If you can find me a perfect set of mirrored ones in silver I will trade you for the gold.

I do have a set, but I am holding onto them to maybe trade for a set of mirrored ones.
