1977 W72 400 4speed T/A
« on: October 01, 2011, 10:32:40 PM »
Well we got another bird.. lol what can we all say we love are trans am on here and its a little of a drug to me.. lol But we pick up this 1977 W72 400 4speed for my dad. She was original white with firehorn red & white it was orded for a guy and he pick her up on 7-7-77 we have all the paper work from when the guy pick her up at Regal pontiac in sylacauga alabama. The car is all original down to everything I think some guy in the late 80's had plans on rebuilding her cause he got alot of stuff from GM and year one from like 87 to 95 so it came with ALOT of new stuff so that saved us some money! :D but we pick her up on september 22 and we have already started on bring her back. Now the good and the bad.. Good is the car is all original numbers matching car & it has alot of new stuff like new seals, all the interior has been redone, now at first we never got to hear the motor run but when we got her home we went and got the Q-jet rebuild and she fired right up! great! Now the bad would have been the tailpan but it came with two of them that was cut out of other cars. So the first weekend she was here we cut the old one out and put the new one in. So now we already started on getting her ready for paint so tomorrow are pulling the motor and taking the frame out. So I will keep you guys updated alot! here some pictures and albums thanks for looking.

This is the link to the guys album I got the car from.

Glad to see another saved, I see you have some rust free floors, that is a bonus.  I will be watching this one come together.

Great solid car to start with. I also have a 77 400 4 speed, but mine is a coupe. I am excited to see this come together, it was a score to find one in that shape with all those parts. Question though, and please correct me if I am wrong, as I was not around in the 70's. I thought all T/A's from factory had splitters, or was that just an option?
I long for the peace that only driving a t/a can bring.

Yes I was wondering if when these cars were new if the "T/A tips" were just an option?
