The Movie car finally discovered????

despite it being a 78, the VIN is shorter and surely proof enough for anyone looking to purchase such an original classic

Could be a GM test car, not sure how it would have made it out.  They should have been crushed.  Anything could happen.  Problem is, the car probably couldn't be titled.  Interesting, but I think it would probably be best used as a parts/drag car.

My bet:  the guy is comparing the Pre-81 vin to something newer, hence it is shorter than normal. ::)

He also has a 1980 SE that is on display in a South Dakota museum, along with his original title framed and sitting beside the car, as well as a plaque saying the car was a gift from Pontiac and was used as his daily driver while filmiing II.

It hasnt been there in at least a year. The guy behind the counted wasnt sure where it went but he said it was scheduled to be restored.  HUH?  That car definitely does NOT need to be restored.

That looks and sounds like an awesome deal and deals like that are always far away when you live in Connecticut.
