1970 Patriot Trans Am
« on: June 26, 2010, 11:47:07 AM »
A guy in my neighborhood has a 1970 Trans Am for sale. He says that it is one of 27 Patriot editions made. I've tried to find more info on it, to no avail. I'm guessing that it's just the red interior, making it red interior, white paint with blue striping. Has anyone else ever heard of a Patriot Edition?

A guy in my area is selling his '70 Trans AM. He says that it it is 1 of 27 Patriot Trans Ams built. I tried to do a search for Patriot Trans Am to no avail. I'm guessing that it's just the color combo of white paint, blue stripe and red interior. Has anyone ever heard of a Patriot? I took a quick look at it yesterday. The price is fair at $12k for a solid, PHS documented, nicely loaded Ram Air III. Of course it needs to be restored.

There's no such thing as a "Patriot Trans Am" a lot of people will call cars with that color combo that name but Pontiac never created such an animal.

I agree, 12k sounds fair if it's solid and original

Omg, I hope that's not a real RA IV car!

Spirit of America Nova? Very cool, just imagine the controversy that would rise if an American car manufacturer made an "Spirit of America" car today.

A quick google search turned up the following:

http://stevesrestorations.com/?p=11162

And the number 54 is kicked around in this post:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Was_there_a_patriot_model_trans_am_in_1970_Was_there_one_that_had_the_red_interior

And also in this ebay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Pontiac-Firebird-TransAm-400-Ram-Air-NO-RESERVE-/120588859102?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c13a7f6de

Now whether or not this is an actual GM package deal OR someone just calling a white TA w/blue stripes & red interior a "Patriot" car....that's something beyond my experience. My BS meter is telling me this is something that someone made up and caught on but I've been wrong before...
