Hi !!!  Living in Puerto Rico.  Just got my hands on a 1980 Blue TA.  Joing looking for help to determing if my TA is one of the first cars that TA specialty modded.  Reading the HR interview to one of the owners he explained that the first cars they did a couple of whites and a couple of blue cars.  Mine has the 170 mph odometer, recaros seats , 455 and a very similar engine bay since it has same air filter, valve covers, same location of the MSD as #24. The was bought in NY in 1982 and shipped to PR and hasn't run in the street since 1997.  Rock solid but need restoration and thats the issue.  If it is an original Trans Am specialties a will like to keep it in the original blue but if not a want to change the color of it.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advanced.

The Pontiac Southern Nationals is returning to Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison, Texas for 2018.  We are holding our event in conjunction with the Warbirds & Wheels event hosted at the museum, and this year’s APS will be held on Saturday, September 22nd.

The PSN will be unique; it’s always been an all Pontiac show, but once again this year the Pontiacs will be sharing the spotlight with vintage Planes! The PSN Pontiacs will be parked in and around a Cavanaugh hangar; the Planes will be on display on the grounds.
 
Here is just part of the schedule for Warbirds & Wheels: Aircraft formation flybys, Aircraft Carrier operation demonstration, Sherman Tank demo, Warbird Rides, Troop Transport rides – and that’s not all, the list goes on!

Registration starts at 8:30 am and ends at 11:00 am sharp.  Awards at 3:30 pm.

We will also offer a second show for all cars, trucks and motorcycles the next day on Sunday, September 23rd at the same location.

Hey guys, I'm very likely going to be in the market for a '77-'78 T/A in the next few months, so I'm doing my research now.  Basically, I'm looking for places to search.  Obviously, i know about this site, and Restore a Muscle Car out in Nebraska.  I watch Ebay, Cargurus, and Autotrader Classic.  I just want to make sure i don't leave any stone un-turned when I am ready to buy.

I will be looking for a '77-'78 T/A
Blue, Red, or White
4 spd
A/C car (I live in FL)
No T-Tops

Of course, I'd love a car in perfect condition, but I'm not opposed to picking up a driver that needs some work as long as I can drive it in the meantime.  I almost picked up a white T/A last year, but my credit union threw a curve ball at mean at the last minute so the deal didn't go through.  Where can i go to finance something like this?

Lastly, are there any other options that are realistically impossible to add after the fact?  I can add an upgraded stereo, vinyl interior, etc. easily. 

Thanks so much guys - my dad has a '78 Y88 4spd and I want to one-up him so bad!

DriveTrain / Help w/ 1980 TA Radiator Hoses

I recently purchased a 1980 Trans Am. It started life as a WS6 301 turbo car but had it's original engine swapped with a Pontiac 400 from what I was told was a 74 Trans Am. The original hood was swapped with a shaker hood. It was painted and stickered as a Y84 SE with 15"x8" snowflake wheels.

It needs a lower radiator hose as the current one installed was hacked and just barely clamped onto the radiator. I went ahead and ordered AC Delco upper and lower hoses using factory part #s. I checked part #s for numerous Trans Am year & engine combinations and was confident that I had ordered parts that would fit. The same part #s were used for 1974 w/ 400, 74/455, 77/400, 79/400 and just about any year/Pontiac engine that I looked up. Even the 1980/301 turbo and 80/301 non-tubo used the same lower hose as the previous years.

I received the hoses and tried to install them but found that they do not fit. The factory hoses have an id of 1.5 on both ends on the upper hose. The lower has an id of 1.5" on one end and 1.75" on the other end. My hoses have id of 1.75" on both ends of both upper and lower radiator hoses. Which leads me to believe that the radiator has been swapped out with something larger. That would explain why the lower molded hose was rigged and barely fit. The upper hose fits correctly and looks to be a factory fit. It has a part # of n17c6xag on it. I even checked the hoses for various other years/engines but all hoses have the id of 1.5" or 1.25".

I am trying to find molded radiator hoses that would fit and look somewhat factory fit. They need to have 1.75" opening on all four ends. Anybody have any ideas or part #s to fit? The upper fits great but I can't seem to cross reference that part # to any make/model/car. Any ideas?

Hi there, I am using a Quick Jack and have lifted my 79 T/A with it.

I will start by saying that, in general, I love the QuickJack. It's super easy to use, amazingly stable (on most cars - more on that in a moment), and really compact if you have limited space (like us). I've been using it for couple years now on a variety of cars, but just started using it on the Trans Am. On cars like a Datsun, Mazda RX8, Miata, Lexus, etc they have provided great convenience for brake jobs, oil changes, exhaust work, etc. I've done a clutch and full transmission change with one as well. They lifts are heavy - the picutre shows some guy basically just throwing them around to move - yeah, not really the case. They do have wheels and can easily be moved around a garage though. Just not gonna "toss them in the trunk" and take them with you... The other thing is that you can use them length-wise (front to back) or sideways (one for the front, the other for the back) - they just have to be parallell or it can be dangerous. This is imporntant for a couple of reasons - depending on what you want to work on you can best position the quick-jack so that you can slide under the car from the side or from the engine / back. Last thing - it might be overkill, but I dont trust my life under any jackstand or quickjack without using a backup such as a wheel or two just incase the primary fails.

Regarding the Trans Am - I'm still working this out. Normally you use the QuickJack on the pinchwelds under the doors (front to back or side to side) but I'm not comfortable doing that on the TA yet as I'm not sure how they will hold up. I used the quick jack further toward the center of the TA putting one rubber pad under the front subframe and one on the rear. It lifted fine and I changed the gastank without issue of height, clearnace, or anything else. However, when I did the rock-test (push the car to check stablilty) it was a bit wobbly which would make me too nervous to crawl underneath. I'm now going to play around with using the quick jack side to side (one for the front of the car, one for the back) to see if stability improves. The issue is you would not be able to slide under the car front-to-back as the jacks will be in the way. As far as changing tires, doing brakes, oil changes, diff fluid, etc. it works great.

I'm not sure what that is, so assume I didn't do it. I've checked several other links I knew didn't work and all are showing, so far, so looks like PB have backflipped on their previous images at least, I can imagine it may be too late for them to regain any lost users who have moved on and no longer trust them.

They show up fine on my screen, but I did install the photobucket fix extension for the firefox browser. Nice job on the headliner repair.
