When you get your exhaust on we need a video!  Looks like you are doing a great job.  Keep up the good work!

The exhaust is not on yet. The cold doesn't bother me at all, but I am in college and am not home so that unfortunately I can't work on the car. Spring break starts Friday at 12:30 for me though so I am hoping to have the engine running and exhaust installed by.... Tuesday ha

Well after 3 months of hibernation I started the bird for the first time today. She started and ran great... in the beginning. After about 15 minutes at idle I revved the engine a little and my dad yelled at me to shut it off. There is a coolant leak somewhere :( . The car was not overheating but something is going on. I am borrowing a pressure tester from a coworker tomorrow to try to pinpoint the leak. I think and am hoping it is one of the intake manifold gaskets, which of course, no auto store around me has so I will need to order. I will post back tomorrow with my findings hopefully.

bad news... the passenger head gasket is leaking right at the back near the oil filter. No matter what I do I can't get it to stop. After all this work I am going to have to take the car into a shop :(

Can't do it yourself?

It's really not that difficult especially if you have a repair manuel to follow

I already did it once and it didn't take, now I am worried the deck is not flat. I would rather just bring it to someone and know it is done right. A local person said he can do it for 300 give or take. He is one of the members on another forum I belong to and has a restoration shop

2 new sets of intake gaskets will be picked up tomorrow and this weekend hopefully the car will be running without leaking fluids. I am supposed to have a car show this sunday so I am really keeping my fingers crossed!!!

I didn't mention I did the head gasket myself and now I have an intake gasket leak (I was not able to run the car long enough to see if the head gasket took)

I hope everything works out for you!  You should be able to knock out an intake gasket really quick.  Good luck.

Any news with the exhaust?

Yeah thats nothing but I ordered 2 sets just in case. I didn't put the exhaust on yet because I needed to take the passenger head/headers off for doing the head gasket. Provided I don't have any leaks the exahsut will be going on saturday into sunday

Today at approximately 7 PM EST I started the car and let it run for about 20 mnutes. At first there was some smoke but by the end everything seemed pretty good. The temperature topped out at around 205-210 degrees with a 195 T-stat. Tomorrow I will be taking the car for its first drive in almost 4 months. Here is hoping everything works out!
