I went back and forth for a few weeks of what to do with it when I first got it. The factory frame and floors were all gone. Most of the parts to put it back to stock are avaible but was it worth it??? Who knows. When I see what they go for on E-bay I think I should have. But the way it is now is worth way more. But it cost allot more to build.

I took it out today for a nice drive. Got it inspected. Who said having a car like this is hard to get inspected. Then I took it for a 30 mile ride to see how it was. The the longest run so far. The motor temp never went over 185 and the trans the same. Again it ran great with no problems. I do need to replace a gasket on the blower gear box. It's leaking a bit. Just enough to make a mess. Just a small repair. I'm sure there will be a few other bugs along the way.

Now my next project I'm going to installing 2" drop spindles new adjustable upper control arms and Rack and Pinion steering. I went with a 69 Camaro manual steering box the first time around and I hate it.

It's your car to do with it as you choose.
I too, have a modded Special Edition.
I bought it new, back when no one knew how these cars would be years from then.
Now I know, and I still don't care.
It's my car, and I'll do with it as I choose.
I have other Trans Ams that are/will be stock.
It's my money, no one else's.
They didn't buy it, I did.
My hat's off to you xtrmeta, you have put together one bada*s Trans Am!
Will you ever get the money you invested in it?
Who knows.
Only you will care.
If these people put the money into the cars like we do, they would have something nice as well.

Thanks for all the kind words guy's.

I have been offered $40,000 for the car before it was in paint. I turned it down because the car is not for sale. And truth be told I have more than that in it already. :o

I had a car (Chevelle) that I was going to build strictly for the track so I put a manual steering box in it. Then I ended up making it a street racer instead but thought the lack of p/s wouldn't bother me. I was really wrong. That was a heavy car (especially with a 455) to have to wrestle around corners in residential neighborhoods. From then on I stopped worrying about the little bit of hp lost to the p/s pump. ::)

This project has been a long time coming with a few interesting setbacks along the way... got to feel great to have her out on the road!  I love how the color turned out!  Gorgeous backdrop for that beast!  Nice!

Yes it does feel go to drive it after all this time. You guys don't know the half of all the problems I have had along the way. Everything I did for some reason had to fight me. Then there was the year I was sick and couldn't work on it. It just sat there on jack stands in the garage.
But at least now it's drivable and I can do the small things as I go and still have fun with it before it snows. :'(

You put a 455 engine into the Chevelle?
Which one?
An Olds or Pontiac?
Or, did you mean a 454 engine?
I have never seen any other engines in a Chevelle but for the Chevy ones.

Olds of course. (need you ask? lmao)

It was a '73 Chevelle. I bought it to replace my first Cutlass after it got wrecked. Had no drivetrain so I did what I always do, went with Olds power. lol   Tried a 350 at first but decided that wasn't enough. (Is it ever?) ;) That was when I thought I'd cut even more hp loss by going with the manual steering. That was such a nightmare on Dallas/Ft Worth streets.
