loud pop when turning into driveway
« on: March 29, 2016, 03:00:20 PM »
I haven't had my car out yet this year, but last autumn when I would turn into an inclined driveway, there would be what sounded like a loud pop coming from the roof of the car.  Anyone have an idea what this would be?  I'm assuming it's either suspension related, or maybe chassis flex due to being a uni-body?  Thanks!

Could be numerous things going on.  Do you have solid body mounts or subframe connectors?  Based upon what you're saying, this may help cure the issue.  Here's a link to some chassis stiffening kits.

I had an inner fender like that, the rear tab would rub against the cowl and if you leant over it working on the car it would flex and make a noise, no fenders on and nothing else really tight.

Thank you everybody for all of the input.  I've purchased some subframe connectors and solid body mounts, but haven't gotten around to having them installed yet.  I'll check into the fender thing too.
