SOS ASAP....Tire Fitment on 15x7 Rally II's
« on: June 02, 2017, 12:00:44 PM »
Yet another "one of those" tire to wheel fitment questions.  ::) I know there are a plethora of them here....enough to confuse me!  I spent 4 hours last night researching this issue and thought I felt confident enough to order the tires.  SO I DID!  ;D Then I woke up this morning second guessing my decision.  :-\  I'm hoping I can get some input here pretty fast, so I can make a change to my order or just go with it and feel OK about it.  All opinions are welcomed.  Please!  I have the original 15x7 Rally II's which I just "restored" myself.  The car has been rolling on 225/70/15's all around.  I was hoping to get a little wider in the rear (the car ;)) without getting much taller.  So pretty much the given there is to go with 255/60/15's.  Sooooooo....that's what I did.  Cooper Cobra GT's.  225/70/15 Front and 255/60/15 Rear. My concern is with the appearance of the 255's on the 7".  Summit lists 7" as the min rim for that tire.  I was wondering if the sidewall bulge looks ridiculous.  Anyone have the 255 on the 7" wheels and hate it??  Love it?  Thanks for your opinions.

They are fine, but do will have that bulge to them. I started to google pics and forums discussions but too many so stopped!

Hey Aus78Formula!  Thanks so much for the two links.  I had not seen either of those.  Having seen the pics and read what was said, I think I am good with the decision I made and will stick with the 255's on the 15x7 for the rear.
And I also was able to see in person today a '55 Chevy with the 255/60/R15 on 15x7 Torque Thrust IIs.  Looked just fine.  Slight bulge but not too much.  I can live with it.  So done deal.  Should get the tires in a few days, get them on the car and be able to bring her home from the shop and show off her shiny new paint.   8) Thanks again for taking the time to reply to my SOS.   :)
