grand73am:   yeah i was not going to say anything either, but he asked for our opinion.   ;)   i like them both, but for some reason i like the 15's better.  i agree that if they were gold with gold decals they would work alot better.  for the same reasons you mention on the gold,  the argent color would break it all up a little & the blackwalls wouldn't be so bad.   the height difference isn't much, i think he mentioned 3/4" but it seems to level the car some in the pics & looks like it's raised up.  could just be the angles of the pics though.  :-\

they both look awsome on an awsome car!    i can hear hitman now....."ahh crap,  now i gotta repaint them argent!!"

the color on the 17x9's looks almost black,

They are black. ;)

They are NOT Black, he said he painted them a dark grey. I will find out from my tire guy on the letters.

Whoops  :-[ you're right. I'm reading things that aren't there again. ::)

you took the words right out of my mouth....
I like the 17s better in the pics but only slightly... the orig rims are very close IMO,,,, I like the 17s cause they look sharper and cleaner.

so hear me out,,, I know for a fact the reason most aren't likeing them as much as they thought is because of the stance. Our minds are almost trained to think larger rim = lower stance,,,but its the opposite. The stance on any car is really key and changeing the rims and tires will offset all that in your mind,,,even if you retain the same diam tire/ aka wheel gap. The modern look to me is more about a lower stance then the larger wheels. I really think the car needs to come down atleast 2 inches or untill there is a 1-2 inch wheel gap....and then add a 1/2 to 1 inch onto the rear gap.
As a test I will show a pic of my previuosly owned car.... to me this is a modern look ppl want.... its got that big rim look right......

....
well get this,,,, that's the stock 16" rims and tire size.... It is only lowered, and it almost fools you to think its larger rims and tires but its not. Now contrast that to a 2nd gen,,, I would assume if he lowered his car right it will make the 17" rims look even larger.

I like the IROC-Z cars, even if they are a Camaro.

Here is picture of one with only 30k miles, original owner car.   The guy takes really good care of the car, and it shows.  He won "best paint" at a local car show with the factory original paint.

there you go,,,,same car same wheels and tires,, IMO i think my wheels look larger because of the stance.
As for the Iroc it was my baby for sooo long untill I realized I could sell it to buy my #2 favorite car ever the Black and gold 2nd gen TA,,,so if it wasnt for my Iroc i would of never owned my ta.

i agree 100% on having the proper stance, it makes all the difference in the world, i have a set of the year one 17s too just have no room in my garage on the pass. side to get them on, but i lowered my front end 1 1/2in. with some hotchkis coils and 1 1/2in lower rear leafs and even with the 15s on there it looks mean as you can see in my sig. pic, i can't wait to put the 17s on and see how she looks, just gotta wait til the motor gets done and back in the car

Yeah, I do agree with you on the rims.  The 15's look maybe a little better on the car, but that could also be because of the lack of the raised white letters.  I will be trying to change that soon and see what the car looks like with the raised white letters.  So yes, please speak freely on here even though you are talking about my car.  I opened the question here and it is fine to say what you feel.  I will not hate anyone or think badly of you if you speak your mind.  So, I appreciate the comments and will do some changes and work on the raised white letters.  Yeah, the paint in the rims is a dark grey to match the color in the decals.  It does look dark in the photos, but looks lighter in person.

hitman if ya don't mind me saying, why not throw a set of hotchkis coils or some drop spindles up front, it would help the look of the front end with the 17's, i know you want originality but if you think about it you have custom graphics and rims so why not drop her a bit?

I don't want to order the wrong backspace ect.
I have a SE Gold 1978 T/A that is unmodified as far as I know. I am the second owner. It currently has the 9 x 15s on it with p235 60 R15s they fit nicely and do not rub had 245's and rubbed.  What I am wanting to do is put the year one 9 X 17 inch snowflakes on the car with out modifying anything. So what are the measurements for those wheels.
My 1978 T/A the only thing that I ever loved that didn't leave me (Yet)
