1980 Trans Am - Thoughts - Might Purchase
« on: April 24, 2018, 08:58:15 PM »
I've owned classic cars before.  Always wanted a 77-78 but can't find them or the price is high.  I found a southern state rust free 80 TA.  Owner says it was a special order car and got a Pontiac 400 engine vs a 305.  Is that possible?  I look at this car soon.  What other problems should I look for.  Guy is calling the car in excellent condition, fully documented for like $10K.  Thanks for your help.

'79 was the last year for the 400.
Ask him for proof of the "special order"  ;)

I would say no. There were no 400's to be had in 1980. That and the EPA would have had something to say about that too. Like Jeff said '79 was the last year for the 400.
