How to mount front turn signal / marker lamp assemblies?
« on: June 12, 2006, 09:29:39 AM »
I've got one light assembly barely hanging on from the bottom bolt, and the other one missing. I've been looking, but don't see an obvious way to install the new ones. Does the bottom urathane spoiler need to come off to access the bolts?

Yes, you will have to drill out the rivets to remove it.
If you dont have rivet gun, you can pick one up most auto parts stores.

If you're talking about the turn signal light box.  There are two threaded studs that the ears fit over.  Then you screw nuts over the threads to hold it in place.

They're really a pain to get properly placed.  You might be able to take out the front grills to get better access.  I replaced one without taking off the spoiler.  But I can see why it would be easier to fit the box over the studs.  It took me about an hour...but I didn't take off the spoiler or the grill.  I did it the hard way.

Actually you dont have to drill the rivets out to remove the spoiler.
My mistake, but it will make it easier to get to the parking lights by removing the spoiler.

Sounds like a plan, thanks

UPDATE:

I was able to replace my marker lamps finally. The following is true:

Unfortunately, one of the mounts had broken off at some point in the car's life, and some Goober deciced to try holding the light in place with caulk, or glue, or snot, or something. I ended up having to pull the facia off enough to replace the CARRIAGE BOLT. These are the bolts with a rounded off head, and a square shoulder to fit in the square hole in the bumper.

Sorry, I don't remember what size I bought, but they were only a few cents at the hardware store.
